But keep in mind computers using CAD will cost a bit more as you have seen in the responses from the other IT Pros. I checked in with our resourceful consultant who provided the following information that may be helpful for your new computer search. I was thinking there has to be a less expensive HP computer that would perform CAD work very well. I would also like one for personal use-not for CAD but for photography. Yes, I also respond with a WOW whenever I view or read about an HP z series product. if and when i have the money i might consider one for home lab and use. It out-budgets the solution but the specs are WOW. I have verified the prices with out local Suppliers and the Price for Z models are quite expensive. Hey Pricilla thanks for taking an interest in my post. Here is a list of HP "Certified Hardware": The AutoCad site also provides a tool that generates a list of "Certified Hardware" based on hardware manufacturer, etc. Based on the AutoCAD 2017 recommendation and the members' usage, you may want to up your specs for your proposed processor from i5 to at least i7, When I saw 3GB RAM in your specs, my first reaction was similarly to that of who wrote, "Simply, probably the biggest issue right off the bat is RAM." You will see in his link to AutoCad 2017 and in the responses from the IT Pros that they have gone beyond the recommended 8 MB of RAM to a minimum of 16 MB. Hello thank you for your post which has received very helpful feedback from the other IT Pros. I am planning a corei5,8gb DDR3\4 1600Mhz ram, 3GB DDR4 Graphics.
Since it will take some time for me to become a CAD Expert (let alone amateur) i want to know the Proper requirement, or how to calculate the necessary requirements for proposing a new PC (Custom Build) to that client.
Some of the Architects have gone weary as after 4 hours of work they didn't save from time to time. I was there last week and I did everything i could to make the PC lighter but still freezing (unhandled exception, fatal error, etc) When comparing their Current PC Specs to the requirements from AUTODESK it seems their PCs can respectively support the latest autocad version.
somethings waiting ~10Mins solves the issue sometimes Rebooting the machine and a user told me he had to reboot his machine 2 times for it to work properly. Given that work demands have grown and some architects need to open more than 2 Autocad files. At that time the PCs were high Specs (dual core 2.93, 3GB ram DDR2, 1Gb graphics, recently upgraded to win7). 4 of the Architects PCs are 4-5 years Old.
)Īnyway I offer service to an Architecture company. Had to come to work in car instead of my trusty Bike. The weather is crazy in my Island though it's irrelevant to this post.
